Shoes. To some women, they're simply protection to the feet -- some pieces of leather, cloth and rubber that keep the feet protected from sharp rocks and thorns. To others (the majority, to be exact), buying them is an addiction - a temptation that's really hard to escape.
This explains why there are literally millions of shoe designers and retail stores worldwide. And no, although this means lots of competitions, these establishments aren't planning to close down anytime soon, as all women love Shoes (and we're guessing that you're in this website because you're a woman and you're addicted to Shoes too) and there are billions of them too around the world.
We can't find any reason why a woman shouldn't be addicted to Shoes, anyway. Like clothes, they're trendy and they have so many interesting variations! Shoes aren't only the ones that put the finishing touches to any outfit, they're also considered as signs of status and adornment.
If you're feeling giddy on Monday, there are converse snickers or Adidas rubber shoes to match up your mood. If you're feeling girly on Tuesday, slip on some pair of simple yet pretty sandals from Havaianas or Candies and you're ready for the day. If "power" is what you want to have on Wednesday, you can match your mini skirt with a dress shoe from Nine West. You have a date on Thursday? Slip on your pair of Hosiery from Via Spiga. There are so many types of shoes and equally many shoe retailers catering to each type, but so little time to check out all. This feeling is what makes shoes addicting, really. You want more but it seems that you can't have them all easily.
If you're looking for a wholesale of name brand shoes, you should definitely start writing "fan letters" to some of the most famous celebrities, asking them to "let go" of their collection.
Take for example, Celine Dion. Yes, our "My Heart Will Go On Diva" loves shoes and she proudly collects them (take note, her shoe collection must've already reached the same number as her vocal range ). Her collection seems to lean toward newer shoes, so if you're a fan of modern Pumps and Hosiery shoes, make the effort to know her address, or probably the address of her biggest and longest fan to be able to send your request.
So, you're not into Celine Dion's type of shoes and you want something vintage. The person you should establish a connection with is the former Philippine First Lady, Imelda Marcos. Imelda is known around the world for her shoe collection that must've had filled the Presidential palace before.
Or if you're still "realistic" and you think it's impossible to persuade these two famous people to put their collection into "wholesale" (it'll be hard to contact them the first place), wait for celebrity shoe auctions. How? Just regularly visit Ebay and you might chance upon a grand celebrity shoe auction (and Ebay means getting discounts).
So, you want to start collecting shoes that have "billion-dollar names" in them. Well, that'll be easy. As we've said, there are millions of shoe shops currently operating in the United States and there's probably one that's just one street away from your house.
If, unfortunately, you don't have the right amount of "material" to be able to afford new pairs of shoes from name brand stores, you still have an option. What's left for you to do? Go visit internet selling sites like Ebay to get discounts on such shoes. You can get everything on Ebay in "discounts" so all those bidding, haggling and waiting would pay off once you get your item.
Or if you're not really a fan of bidding, you can wait for those name brand stores to put up a sale. Make sure that you visit them on holidays (especially during Christmas), as these are the times that they really give big discounts. And yes, just by waiting for a sale, you can get that slick black Pump for a bargain. There are lots of sites in the internet offering extensive selections of discount name brand shoes as well. You can search for these sites online.
Some of us carry that notion that it's just a waste of money to buy baby shoes. Well, to tell you honestly, that's wrong. Babies are actually the ones that REALLY need shoes, as they're still learning to walk and because they're very eager to master it, they can walk and walk for hours and not get tired. Obviously, walking for hours calls for the need of a pair or two of shoes.
But please do take note that you need to consider an important reminder when buying baby shoes. It's not advisable to buy your baby a pair of footwear that's a bit "rough" for his/her age. Studies done by the American Pediatric Medical Association suggest that it's more advisable to let your baby wear socks while learning to walk, so his/her feet will develop normally. But walking around barefoot (or with socks) would be unpractical in some cases so, buy shoes that are soft-soled.
Don't worry. If you can buy a pair of name brand shoes, you, most definitely, can afford baby shoes. Baby shoes are actually the most affordable type of footwear in the market, so buying some pairs of them will not really be hard for your wallet.
The question is, why are women so addicted with shoes? Well, there's no specific answer for that. There's this something in the feminine shell of consciousness that makes women squeal every time they see a new design for a high heel or even, a sneaker on press release, TV and magazines (for Pete's sake, that's the exact reason why they buy magazines!).
Take note, these new designs don't even come once in every blue moon. In fact, there are almost always new designs for shoes being announced every day, yet women still go gaga whenever they see a new one on TV (most especially designs from name brand women's shoes and from world-famous almost-exclusive-to-celebrities shoe designers like Patrick Cox and Stuart Weitzman).
And also, women will still fantasize having those new designs even if they're not, by any chance, wearable. Do you raise an eyebrow whenever you see really bizarre shoe models like those made to look like real rats or those with ultra high, high, high heels (Go search for the weirdest shoes in the internet)? Well, majority of the women find it an honor to own of those.
So, you still want to know that "something" behind women's shoe collecting addiction. Take it from Jennifer Lopez - 'Well, I have perspective.' That's what she said when asked why she still saved her old shoes, despite owning more pairs than she could count.
